\n Poseidon Temple<\/h2>

The Poseidon Temple at Cape Sounion is only 6 kilometers away and it is a must see for every visitor of the area.\u200b
\nCape Sounion contains the ruins of the ancient Greek Temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea in the Greek mythology. The remains are perched on the headland surrounded by the sea. This site is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. The sunsets over the Aegean Sea are spectacular.
\nAccording to legend, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, jumped to his death off the cliff, thus giving the name to the Aegean Sea. The temple of Poseidon was built around 440 BC and is perched above the sea at a height of 60m (about 197 ft drop). The Temple was built on top of another ancient temple. On a clear day you can see at least 7 beautiful Greek islands.<\/p><\/div>

\n The town of Lavrion<\/h2>

The town of Lavrion on the tip of the Attica Peninsula is not featured prominently in very many guidebooks about Greece even though it has the oldest and biggest ancient amphitheater in the country and a mysterious giant hole that would be an attraction to Archeologists and seekers of unexplained phenomena if they knew about it.\u200b
\nThe area is known for its industry and mining operations from ancient times. This is where the giant columns from the temple of Poseidon at nearby Sounion were dug out. The Silver mines date back to prehistoric times. The washeries where the silver was extracted are still visible and currently in a state of being restored. These mining facilities are believed to be the oldest in the world! The Lavrion Silver mines financed the fleet with which the ancient Athenians defeated the Persians, and financed the building of the Acropolis and other monuments of the Golden Age of Athens.
\nToday, you will find all the commodities of the modern world, restaurants, shops, cafes, night clubs and bars. The newly rebuilt port is now major ferry terminal for the Greek islands and it houses several sailboat charter companies and a marina.
\nYou can get to Lavrion by Orange buses that leave from Green Park (Areos Park) where Alexandras Avenue connects with 28 October-Patission Street. They leave every half-hour. There is also a bus from the airport. With the new ring roads you can now be in Lavrion in under an hour by taxi. From Lavrion you can catch the ferry to Kea which leaves several times a day. There is also a high-speed ferry during the summer that goes to the Cyclades. Two or three times a week the NEL ferries stop in Lavrion during its trip around the Cyclades.<\/p><\/div>

Since the sandy beach is only 150 meters away from our hotel it will become your #1 choice for your swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a non-organized beach without too many people.
\nAlong the coast toward Cape Sounion you will find several smaller and more private beaches some with sand and others with fine rock pebbles.<\/p><\/div>
